International Tournament Success
|
A new cohort of Northern Flight players flew across to Denmark to represent Manchester in the second World OutGames in Copenhagen: Lynette, Simone, Mike S, Steve, Chee, Alister, Anthony, Gareth and Mike G (Dipesh was also with us in spirit!). With all the Danes in attendance, the competition was particularly tough.
Three years since Montreal, and the new team was just as successful, bringing back eight medals, all in doubles. In fact, Northern Flight were represented in the men's doubles finals of all the categories for which we entered teams (A, B+ and B-) and in two out of three of the mixed doubles finals (A and B-). The Results were as follows:
There were also some very noteworthy fourth place achievements: Simone and Rikke (A Ladies Doubles), Rikke (A Ladies Singles), Corine and Steve (A Mixed Doubles), Gareth (B+ Mens Singles), Mike G (B- Mens Singles).

Copenhagen was truly fantastic - if incredibly expensive! - and will be fondly remembered for: 'Love is in the Air' (or is that just heavy rain?), Evian bottles, camp beach volleyball players, a demonic rooster, line-dancing, roller-coasters and shocking pink tops. |
